How to Find Serial Number Of A Computer From Command Prompt CMD, Using WMIC

What is a Serial Number?

A serial number is a unique identifying number or group of numbers and letters assigned to an individual device, serial number can be found on both hardware and software.

The term serial number is often shortened to just S/N or SN, especially when the word precedes an actual serial number on something. Serial numbers are sometimes, but not often, referred to as serial codes.

Have you ever been in a situation whereby you need to know the serial number of your PC but could not find it written on any part of the body? You can still know your serial number using command prompt, so without wasting any time, let’s see how can you find laptop serial number using command prompt???

Quick command that you can use to find the Serial Number of your machine.
To find the serial number, open command prompt (cmd) and type the following command.

NOTE: The word serial and number should be together. It might interest you to know what WMIC means (Windows Management Instrumentation Command-Line)

It will give you your computer’s serial number by pulling the information from BIOS. This is how it will look like.
